    Why here

    01

Bendor is minutes away by sea, impossible by road

Paul Ricard's island sits just off the Bandol quay — close enough to see from your table, but with no road and no bridge. The public shuttle runs on its own timetable and its access has been tightened over the years depending on the season and the island's events. A private water taxi lands you there on your own schedule, a late dinner ashore included, and brings you back when you decide.

    02

One boat, the whole western Var coast

From the Bandol marina you reach Sanary and the Embiez archipelago to the east, Les Lecques and the Bec de l'Aigle to the west, and the Cassis calanques beyond. Road-wise that is three separate half-days, each with its own approach and its own parking hunt. By sea it becomes one itinerary, with the coastline as the view and no transfer between legs.

    03

Arrive where the car cannot stop

Bandol is squeezed between hills and sea, and the places worth reaching here are precisely the ones with no drop-off point: a jetty on Bendor, a beach at Renécros, a calanque near the Bec de l'Aigle. The boat comes alongside where you actually want to be, luggage and all, instead of leaving you a walk from the nearest legal parking space.

    FAQ

    Useful to know.

Usually on the quays of the Port de Bandol, right in the centre of town near the capitainerie — you walk to the boat from the Allées Alfred Vivien. We can also pick you up at the Île de Bendor marina if you are staying on the island, or by tender off the Anse de Renécros when the sea is calm. The skipper confirms the exact pontoon and a meeting point the day before.

Yes — Bandol to Bendor is the shortest run we do, a matter of minutes from the quay, and it is priced as a full transfer for the whole boat rather than per head. We drop you at the island's small marina and come back at the time you choose, which is what makes a late dinner or an evening event on the island workable. Tell us the return time at booking so the waiting is planned.

Prices are shown as a starting point for the whole boat, not per person — up to around ten guests share the same fare. The final quote depends on the route, the time of day, the waiting time at destination and any return leg. Skipper, fuel and insurance are included; you are told the total before you confirm.

The mistral is the deciding factor on this coast: it funnels down the Rhône valley and builds a short, hard sea west of Bandol, especially out towards the Bec de l'Aigle and the Cassis headlands. Sheltered legs inside the bay or towards Bendor and Sanary often remain comfortable. The skipper checks the forecast the morning of the trip and will propose a new time, a shorter sheltered route, or cancel without charge rather than run an unpleasant crossing.

Yes — the classic Bandol run is a westward hop with a stop for a swim off the Bec de l'Aigle or in a calanque near Cassis, then lunch ashore. Eastward, Les Embiez and the Sanary harbour make an easy half-day. Tell us the plan when booking so the waiting time is built into the quote.

June and September are the sweet spot: warm sea, long light, and the port far less crowded than in the two peak summer months. July and August are the busiest, and it is the season where the boat saves the most time. In winter, crossings still run on calm days — the harvest and the December Fête des Vins de Bandol bring their own traffic to the seafront.
