    Why here

    01

The tombolo is a bottleneck, the sea is not

Everything heading to Porquerolles funnels down the narrow Giens peninsula roads to La Tour Fondue, and in July and August that single access point plus its car parks can cost you more time than the crossing itself. Leaving directly from Port Saint-Pierre, the Ayguade or Port du Niel takes the road out of the equation entirely, and from La Tour Fondue the hop to the island harbour is a matter of minutes.

    02

Scheduled shuttles end, your evening doesn't

The public boats to Porquerolles and Port-Cros run to a fixed timetable, and the last one leaves long before dinner at the island village or at Le Mas du Langoustier is over. A private water taxi is the only way to dine on Porquerolles and sleep on the mainland — or the reverse.

    03

Island luggage, dogs and early flights

Porquerolles has no cars and the mainland side means a shuttle, a car park and a transfer to Toulon-Hyères airport. A private boat takes your bags from the quay you choose, at the hour you choose, and lands you at the closest port to your onward connection.

    Partner palaces
    • Le Mas du Langoustier, western tip of Porquerolles — reachable by its own bay rather than the village
    • La Villa Sainte-Anne, Porquerolles — a few steps up from the harbour on the Place d'Armes
    • Hôtel Les Glycines, Place d'Armes, Porquerolles — a short walk from the quay
    • Le Manoir de Port-Cros — the island hotel, a walk from the Port-Cros harbour quay
    • Hotels and villas around Giens and the Almanarre road — pick-up at the nearest of the peninsula's harbours
    Public piers
    • Port Saint-Pierre, Hyères — the town's main marina, closest to the old town and Villa Noailles
    • La Tour Fondue, tip of the Giens peninsula — the shortest hop across to Porquerolles
    • Port du Niel, Giens — a small sheltered cove harbour on the south side of the peninsula
    • Port de la Madrague, Giens — on the western shore of the peninsula
    • Port de l'Ayguade, Hyères — closest to the Toulon-Hyères airport side
    • Port de la Capte, Hyères — on the eastern tombolo beach road
    • Porquerolles village harbour — right on the Place d'Armes side of the island
    • Port-Cros harbour — inside the national park, for guests staying on the island

    FAQ

    Useful to know.

Most transfers start at Port Saint-Pierre, the main marina in Hyères, or at La Tour Fondue at the tip of the Giens peninsula if Porquerolles is your destination. We also pick up at Port du Niel, La Madrague, La Capte and l'Ayguade. Your skipper sends the exact pontoon and a pin the day before, and meets you on the quay to take your luggage.

The short hop from La Tour Fondue to Porquerolles harbour is our lowest entry fare, from 290 € for the whole boat rather than per person, which is why it is worth it as soon as you are a family or a small group. Port-Cros starts from 490 €. Departures from Port Saint-Pierre or from the far side of the peninsula are longer and quoted accordingly.

For Porquerolles, yes in season. The crossing itself takes ten to fifteen minutes from La Tour Fondue, but the single road down the Giens peninsula and its car parks are saturated in July and August. Leaving directly from Hyères town or your hotel's nearest harbour removes that entirely, and there is no queue for the boarding gate.

We land at the official harbours of Porquerolles and Port-Cros. Both islands are inside the Port-Cros National Park, so navigation, speed and anchoring are strictly regulated — anchoring over posidonia seagrass is not allowed, Port-Cros uses eco-moorings with a booking required to stay overnight, some zones are closed and there are seasonal restrictions in spring for nesting seabirds. Our partner skippers work under those rules every day.

The mistral builds a short, sharp chop in the Rade d'Hyères and the Almanarre side is the first to be affected; an east wind produces a longer swell that makes the crossing to the islands uncomfortable. Your skipper reviews the forecast the evening before and again in the morning, and will propose a different departure time, a more sheltered harbour, or a full refund if it isn't safe or pleasant.

Prices are per boat, not per person, for up to around ten guests, and start from the figures shown for each route. They include the skipper, fuel and luggage. Night departures, waiting time on site and one-way legs outside the Rade d'Hyères are quoted case by case — send us your date and the two quays and you get a firm price.

Yes. That is the main reason people book us here: the last scheduled shuttle leaves well before the end of dinner at the village or at Le Mas du Langoustier. We agree a return time with you, and the skipper waits at the harbour quay.
