    Why here

Private water taxi transfers along the deepest natural harbour in the Mediterranean — Maó, Es Castell, Illa del Rei, the south coast and the Balearic islands.

    01

The harbour is long, the road around it is longer

Maó and Es Castell face each other across water, but by car you follow the whole southern shore through town traffic and one-way streets before you reach Cales Fonts. The same hop by boat is a few minutes of flat water, and it drops you at the quay rather than in a car park uphill from it. The same logic applies arriving from Menorca airport: the road link is short, and the boat starts where the road stops.

    02

Menorca's two capitals are on opposite ends of the island

Everything on Menorca funnels through the Me-1 between Maó and Ciutadella, and in July and August that single road carries the whole island's traffic plus hire cars from the airport. A coastal transfer skips it entirely and gives you Favàritx, Fornells and the north coast on the way. Southbound, the same run reaches Binibeca and Cala en Porter without the inland detours their access roads impose.

    03

Some places here have no road at all

Illa del Rei with its restored British naval hospital, the quarantine buildings of the Lazareto, the shoreline below the Fortaleza de La Mola — these are islands and banks inside the harbour reachable only from the water. A private boat is not a shortcut here, it is the access.

    FAQ

    Useful to know.

Usually on the Moll de Llevant, the long quay on the eastern side of the harbour where the marinas and restaurants are, or on the Moll de Ponent below the Costa de ses Voltes ramp. If you are staying in Es Castell we normally board at Cales Fonts or Cala Corb instead. We confirm the exact pontoon and a meeting point by message the day before, because berth allocation inside the port can change.

The airport sits inland, so no boat reaches it. What we do is meet your flight and run the short road link down to the harbour, then board on the Moll de Llevant — one booking, one price, and your luggage handled between the two. Give us the flight number and we track it, so a late arrival moves the boarding slot instead of losing it.

Yes. Binibeca and Cala en Porter are both reached along the south shore from the harbour mouth, and both are far quicker by sea than by the inland roads that serve them. Landing depends on the swell and on where a tender can safely come in on the day, so we agree the drop-off point with you and keep an alternative cove in reserve.

Prices are per boat, not per person, and start from the indicative figures shown on this page for up to about ten guests. They include the skipper, fuel and luggage. Harbour and marina fees, waiting time beyond the agreed window and any onboard catering are quoted separately. Long crossings to Mallorca or Ibiza are always confirmed with a firm price once we have the weather window.

Palma is roughly four and a half to five and a half hours depending on sea state, and Ibiza is around seven hours or more on the same logic — these are open-sea passages in an enclosed-cabin boat, not fixed timetables. We give you a departure window rather than a promise to the minute, and we only leave when the forecast supports the whole passage.

Inside the port of Maó you are very well sheltered, which is exactly why navies used it for centuries, so short harbour transfers run in almost all conditions. Open crossings to Mallorca or Ibiza are another matter: a strong Tramuntana from the north makes the passage uncomfortable and we will propose a new departure slot rather than sail it. If we cancel for weather, you are not charged.

Yes — both sit inside the harbour and are reached only by water. Illa del Rei has a visitor pontoon and opening arrangements that vary through the season, and the Lazareto is visited under its own rules, so tell us your date and we will build the timing around what is actually open that day.
