    Skip the Bonifacio ferry queue

    The scheduled ferries across the Strait fill fast in season and run to a fixed timetable. A private transfer leaves Porto Longone when you do and lands you under the Bonifacio cliffs in around 25 minutes, no car and no queue.

    Reach La Maddalena without the road detour

    By road, the archipelago means driving inland to Palau to catch a car ferry. By sea you cut straight across, threading the islets of the Maddalena marine park directly from the town quay.

    Costa Smeralda by water, not by SP roads

    Porto Cervo is a long, winding drive on the coastal SP roads. A fast enclosed-cabin boat runs the Gallura coast in a little over an hour, comfortable even when the maestrale kicks up chop in the strait.

    Transfers leave from the Marina di Porto Santa Teresa inside the Porto Longone fjord, at the tourist-port quay near the Capitaneria di Porto. Your skipper confirms the exact pontoon and can point you to parking close to the embarkation point.

    To Bonifacio the private boat crosses the Strait in about 25 minutes versus a fixed ferry timetable; to La Maddalena or Porto Cervo it saves the long inland drive to Palau or the winding coastal SP roads, arriving in roughly 45 minutes to a little over an hour.

    Prices are per boat, not per person, shown as an indicative 'from' rate for a private enclosed-cabin boat for a small private group. Bonifacio starts from around €390; longer legs to Palau, La Maddalena or Porto Cervo are quoted on the route and confirmed with your dates.

    The Bocche di Bonifacio funnel the maestrale (mistral) and can build a short chop, which is why we use enclosed-cabin boats and a local skipper who reads the wind window. The main season runs June to September; in windier shoulder months the crossing time or departure may be adjusted for comfort and safety.
