    Water Taxi Boat/Destinations/Anegada
    Caribbean · British Virgin Islands

Anegada. Flat, far, fenced by reef — and worth every mile.

The only coral island in the volcanic BVI chain sits low behind Horseshoe Reef, one of the largest barrier reefs in the Caribbean. The public ferry only runs a few days a week; most visitors arrive by private boat through the marked channel at Setting Point — straight to the lobster docks, then a taxi to Loblolly Bay or Cow Wreck Beach.

    Why here

The BVI's only coral island — lobster at Setting Point, miles of empty beach, a reef that keeps the crowds away.

Anegada is the only low coral island of the BVI, ringed by Horseshoe Reef — one of the largest barrier reefs in the Caribbean. Access is effectively by sea: limited ferry days, charter-only airstrip, and an approach through the marked Setting Point channel that rewards local knowledge.

    01

    The lobster pilgrimage

Anegada lobster is the BVI's signature dish — grilled on the beach at Setting Point by the Anegada Reef Hotel and Potter's by the Sea. Order ahead, step off the boat, eat with your feet in the sand.

    02

    Beaches with nobody on them

Loblolly Bay, Cow Wreck Beach, Flash of Beauty — miles of white sand behind the reef, snorkelling straight off the beach, and crowds that never come because the island is hard to reach. That's the point.

    03

A crossing most skippers won't improvise

Horseshoe Reef has claimed hundreds of wrecks; the approach runs through a marked channel to Setting Point. Our captains run it regularly — you get the island without the navigation homework.

    FAQ

    Useful to know.

By sea for most visitors — the public ferry only runs a few days a week and the small airstrip only takes charter flights. A private boat from Virgin Gorda's North Sound takes about 45 minutes; from Tortola about 1h15.

Yes with a skipper who knows it. The approach follows a marked channel into Setting Point; our captains run Anegada regularly and time the crossing with the conditions.

Yes — the classic run: morning crossing, land taxi to Loblolly or Cow Wreck for swimming and snorkelling, lobster lunch at Setting Point, afternoon return.

Strongly recommended — the beach restaurants grill to order and sell out in season. We can call ahead when we confirm your crossing.

December to April for settled weather. The Anegada Lobster Festival (late November) is the island's biggest weekend — book the boat early.
