    Water Taxi Boat/Destinations/St John
    Caribbean · US Virgin Islands

St John. The park owns the island; the boat owns the way in.

No airport, no bridge — St John is reached by water, 15 minutes from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. Two-thirds of the island is Virgin Islands National Park: Trunk Bay's snorkel trail, turtles grazing at Maho Bay, and the north-shore coves are all better reached — or only reached — from the sea.

    Why here

Two-thirds national park, zero airport — the USVI's green island is a short hop by boat.

St John has no airport: all access is by sea, mostly through Cruz Bay. Two-thirds of the island is Virgin Islands National Park, whose north-shore beaches (Trunk, Maho, Honeymoon) have limited parking and mooring rules — arriving by boat with a captain who knows the park regulations is the premium way in.

    01

    The park from the water

Trunk Bay, Maho Bay, Honeymoon Beach — the national park's north shore reads like a postcard rack. Parking is scarce and lots fill by mid-morning; arriving by boat means you skip the shuttle-and-parking game entirely.

    02

Your airport link, without the ferry clock

Flights land at St Thomas, not St John. Instead of taxi + ferry queue at Red Hook, a private boat meets your schedule — Crown Bay or Red Hook straight to Cruz Bay or your villa dock.

    03

    Gateway to the BVI

Jost Van Dyke and Tortola's West End are 30 minutes across the channel. We handle the international leg — customs on arrival — so a BVI day from St John is genuinely simple.

    FAQ

    Useful to know.

Only by water — the island has no airport. The hop from Red Hook (St Thomas) to Cruz Bay takes about 15 minutes by private boat; from the airport side (Crown Bay) about 35 minutes.

The Red Hook ferry is frequent but fixed-schedule and often queued in season, and it only lands at Cruz Bay. A private taxi leaves on your time and can drop at your villa or resort dock.

Yes — day charters along Trunk Bay, Maho and Honeymoon with swim and snorkel stops, subject to National Park mooring rules our captains follow.

Yes — Jost Van Dyke or Tortola are about 30 minutes away. It's an international crossing: passports required, customs cleared on arrival, fees (~$65 entry/$45 exit per person, cash) at the dock.

December to April is high season. Summer is quieter and warm; hurricane season (June–October) crossings depend on weather.
