    Why here

Private boat transfers to and from Amalfi's Molo Pennello, at the heart of the Costiera

    01

The SS163 is the slow way round

The coast road between Amalfi and Positano is a single ribbon of hairpins shared by buses, scooters and delivery vans. In July and August a drive that looks short on the map can swallow well over an hour. By sea the same hop is a calm twenty-minute run past Conca dei Marini and the Emerald Grotto.

    02

Amalfi has a real harbour, not just a beach

Unlike Positano, Amalfi steps straight onto Molo Pennello in the centre of town, metres from the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea. Boarding is quick and sheltered, so a private transfer here is genuinely door-to-water rather than a scramble across pebbles.

    03

One boat reaches the whole gulf

From Amalfi the same enclosed-cabin boat opens up Capri, Sorrento, the Li Galli islands and Naples for a flight connection at Molo Beverello. Instead of changing buses and ferries, you keep your luggage aboard and travel the coast the way it was meant to be seen.

    Where we pick you up.

    Partner palaces
    • Hotel Santa Caterina, just west of town, one of the few Amalfi hotels with its own seafront jetty and beach club for direct boarding
    • Seafront hotels along the Amalfi waterfront (such as Hotel Marina Riviera and Hotel Miramalfi) are served by short tender or a few steps from the main pier
    • Ravello guests are met at the Amalfi or Atrani waterfront, then transferred up by car
    Public piers
    • Molo Pennello — the central harbour pier where all ferries and hydrofoils berth, in the heart of Amalfi
    • The inner harbour basin (darsena) of the Porto di Amalfi, used by smaller private boats for quieter, sheltered embarkation
    • Atrani foreshore — the small neighbouring cove used for quiet pick-ups just east of Amalfi

    FAQ

    Useful to know.

Boarding is at Molo Pennello, the main pier in the centre of Amalfi's harbour, only a couple of minutes on foot from Piazza Duomo and the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea. If you are staying at a hotel with a private jetty such as the Santa Caterina, we can also collect you there, and Ravello guests are met on the Amalfi or Atrani waterfront.

By sea Amalfi to Positano is around twenty minutes. On the SS163 coast road the same trip is often 45 minutes to well over an hour in peak season, because the road is narrow, full of hairpins and shared with buses. The boat also drops you right at Positano's beach rather than at a bus stop above the village.

Fares are per private boat, not per person, so the whole cabin is yours for your group. The prices shown are indicative starting points that depend on the season, the exact pick-up point and the time of day. Your captain, fuel and luggage handling are included; extended cruising, stops at the Emerald Grotto or Li Galli, and swim stops can be added on request.

This is an exposed, open coast, so conditions matter. Mornings are generally the calmest window, with the sea breeze building through the afternoon and easing again toward sunset. If the forecast is unsafe we will suggest an earlier departure or reschedule, and we may recommend a more sheltered pier for boarding; safety always comes before the timetable.

May to September offers the warmest, most settled seas. July and August are busiest, so the sea route is at its most useful for skipping traffic, while late May, June and September are quieter and very pleasant. Note that when Amalfi hosts the Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics the harbour is exceptionally busy.
